Co-Founder and Co-Chairman
Darin Feinstein is an entrepreneur, venture capitalist and philanthropist. Mr. Feinstein co-founded both Core Scientific and Blockcap.com as well as was an early investor and early adopter into the Bitcoin Network, investing into the space starting in 2012. In 2013 Mr. Feinstein started a mining company, and has been involved in start-up blockchain companies ever since. Mr. Feinstein is a member of the Bitcoin Mining Council and has been featured on CNBC, NASDAQ, BLOOMBERG and others.
Aside from Blockchain Mr. Feinstein is also the co-owner of a large restaurant group and a theater and entertainment company.
Giving back to the community in which he lives and works has been a focus of Feinstein’s philanthropic efforts. After founding https://feinsteingriffinfoundation.com/ over a decade ago, Mr. Feinstein and Eddie Griffin through their foundation provide support to several organizations including The Shade Tree, Keep Memory Alive and Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, at Cleveland Clinic Nevada, SafeNest, Noah's Animal House among many others.
A licensed California attorney, and former accountant, Mr. Feinstein has served on a number of boards as well as holds privileged licenses in the gaming, banking and restaurant businesses.
Co-Founder, Co-Chairman and CEO
Mike Levitt is the co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Core Scientific, Inc. From 2016 – 2021, Mike was the CEO of Kayne Anderson Capital. He served as a vice chairman and partner of Apollo Global Management, LP (Apollo) from 2012 – 2016. Mike was the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Stone Tower Capital LLC, an investment firm that he sold to Apollo in 2012. Before founding Stone Tower, Mike was a partner with the private equity firm Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Incorporated. Mike has been an active investor in the Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) industries for almost three decades. Earlier in his career, Mike was an investment banker with Smith Barney Inc. and Morgan Stanley & Co.
Mike has a B.B.A. and J. D. from the University of Michigan, and serves on the University’s Investment Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Visiting Committee of the Ross School of Business and Trustee of the Law School’s Cook Trust. Over the years, Mike has worked with numerous philanthropic organizations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundations of America and New York, and the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.
Chief Construction Officer
Weston Adams has 25 years of experience in infrastructure. Prior to his work with Core Scientific he ran Western States Contracting, Inc., an industry leader in infrastructure in Las Vegas, NV. Weston has built projects in 14 states and has core competencies in process scheduling, value engineering, cost management, and project estimation. Weston has a BS in Accounting and Finance from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
Weston is an active member of YPO and Tiger 21.
Chief Data Center Operations Officer
Matt has over 15 years experience working in operations and engineering management. He has a strong background in infrastructure strategy and management, site engineering and data center operations.
Previously Matt was at Equinix, where he was the Senior Director – Americas IBX Operations. While at Equinix, he was responsible for 200 data centers, 380,000 cabinets and 1,000MW of critical infrastructure. Prior to Equinix, Matt spent 12 years at Hewlett Packard where he was responsible for end-to-end data center infrastructure services. Matt started his career at with the US Army as a Tactical Node Center Switch Supervisor. Matt holds a BS in Organizational Leadership from Texas A&M – Commerce and an AAS in Information Technology from Central Texas College.
Chief of Staff
Kyle Buckett is Chief of Staff of Core Scientific, Inc. From 2019 – 2021, Kyle was the Managing Partner and Founder of FortisN Partners. Before founding FortisN, Kyle served over 20 years in the United States Navy as a senior tactical leader in the Navy SEALs. In addition to holding numerous positions of leadership during his tenure, Kyle was instrumental in various strategic initiatives developing technology and infrastructure for the SEAL teams.
Kyle has a honors causa Doctorate of Business Administration from SDCC, and serves on the SDSU Lavin Entrepreneur Center as a mentor for developing entrepreneurs. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for One More Wave; a charity dedicated to serving disabled veterans. Over the years, Kyle has worked with numerous philanthropic organizations, including the Honor Foundation, Live to Give, and Elite Meet. He is dedicated to continue building Core Scientific into a truly eco-conscious leader in the blockchain and digital asset space.
Chief Technology Officer
Alan Curtis is a technology company executive with 7+ years of experience building, advising, and investing in frontier technology companies. He started his career as Program Director at Innosphere, Colorado’s leading technology incubator, where he helped hundreds of companies raise money, build their teams, and go to market.
Alan left Innosphere to start RADAR, one of the first DeFi technology companies building products for our next financial system. He raised multiple rounds of financing, built an international engineering team, and shipped three products including one of the first decentralized exchanges, lightning network payment rails, and NodeOps platforms. Alan sold RADAR to Blockcap, where he held the title of Chief Strategy Officer.
Todd DuChene brings over 26 years’ experience as a General Counsel in private and public companies. His expertise spans intellectual property, patents, IPOs, and strategic transactions. Todd was 29 years old when he became VP, General Counsel for Office Max. He was instrumental with the IPO at OfficeMax, which was one of the largest IPOs in retail history. Todd joined Fisher Scientific and helped grow the business from $500M to $6B. Todd worked on 100+ deals while at Fisher Scientific until it merged with Thermo Electron. He served as GC at several other technology companies that ranged from $2B to $12B: Solectron, National Semiconductor, Nuance, and FLIR Systems.
Todd received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at The College of Wooster and received his JD from the University of Michigan.
Chief Development Officer
Brett Harrison knows the currency and finance world from all angles, including M&A, commercial debt structuring, investing, and both digital assets and fiat currency. Prior to joining Core Scientific, Brett was Chief Operating Officer at Blockcap, the largest digital asset mining company in North America. Prior to Blockcap, Brett was the Chief Operating Officer of one of the largest privately-held real estate development firms in Las Vegas, Nevada. While working in real estate, he managed hundreds of millions of dollars in commercial debt structures, asset sales, leases, portfolios, and acquisitions.
A graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Economics, Brett served in overseas combat operations, produced a New York Times bestselling book, holds a U.S. Patent for navigation technology, and currently serves on the board of directors of The Warrior Health Foundation.
Chief Human Resources Officer
Sharon Orlopp has over 36 years’ experience in Fortune 500 companies in operations, human resources, diversity and inclusion. Most recently, Sharon was the Global Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Vice President of Corporate H.R. for Walmart. She spent 12 years at Walmart in senior leadership roles, including Senior Vice President of H.R. at Sam’s Club. Prior to joining Walmart, Sharon was Vice President of H.R. for Sports Authority and she spent 17 years with Foot Locker where she held various leadership positions in operations and human resources.
Sharon is the co-author of a Vietnamese memoir, Standing Up After Saigon: The Triumphant Story of Hope, Determination, and Reinvention. This incredible odyssey follows Thuhang Tran and her challenges with polio, war, poverty, family separation, and immigration to the United States. Sharon believes in the power of story to touch the heart and change behaviors.
A lifelong advocate for inclusion, education and opportunity, Sharon considers it a privilege to serve as a Board member for The Harwood Institute and for the University of Denver’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She has held previous Board positions with Women’s Foodservice Forum, Enactus, Highlands Oncology Group, and the Center for Entrepreneurship at Fayetteville State University.
Sharon graduated magna cum laude from the University of Denver with a BA and received her Master’s Degree in educational technology from the University of Arkansas.
Allison is a driven and dedicated economist with experience using economic theory and forecasting to build strategies that help companies in the digital asset space stay ahead of the industry and adapt to the rapidly changing economic environment. Her focus is centered around creating impactful strategies and innovative research on the role of past monetary systems and the evolution of money now, with emphasis on its future place in the global financial world. Prior to joining Core Scientific, Allison worked as an independent consultant and strategist for both traditional finance hedge funds and crypto funds for a prominent digital asset media company, where she monitored and analyzed real-time data and monetary policy to forecast macro trends and their impact on the digital asset space. Allison has also spent time as a consultant to the Enterprise Analysis Unit of the World Bank Group, where she conducted research on international development and poverty solutions.
Allison is expected to receive her Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University in 2023, with a focus on Experimental Economics/Game Theory, and Industrial Organization. In her spare time, Allison enjoys volunteering in her local community to help end homelessness.
Chief Financial Officer
Michael has over 29 years’ experience in Finance and Engineering which provides a unique blend of business, technology and financial expertise. Michael’s extensive skills span global supply chain operations, product development, procurement, IT, mergers and acquisitions, marketing and sales.
Michael received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois and his MBA from the University of Chicago. He spent five years in several engineering roles at Morton International, a chemical, salt and airbag company which is now part of Dow Chemical. After receiving his MBA, Michael spent 10 years at Intel in progressive roles in Finance which culminated as Senior Controller for the Systems Materials and Manufacturing organization.
Michael joined Microsoft as a Senior Director of Finance in the entertainment and devices organization. He was instrumental in improving cost and efficiencies with the Xbox business. Based on his success, he was promoted to General Manager of Corporate Finance where he had financial responsibility for manufacturing, procurement, information solutions, and supply chain operations for Microsoft hardware and physical products worldwide. Michael’s final role was as General Manager of New Venture Integration where he led a team focused on the acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft.
After spending seven years at Microsoft, Michael joined Providence-St. Joseph’s Health and Services, one of the nation’s largest non-profit healthcare systems. As Group Vice President, Michael oversaw accounting, FP&A, tax, and external reporting and led the financial integration of the acquisition of St. Joseph's. Michael next stepped in to serve as the interim CFO at Sound Transit, a public transit agency in the midst of a $54B transit expansion. Most recently, Michael was the CFO for Premera Blue Cross, a non-profit healthcare insurer in the midst of a major technology transformation.
